Collectible plush tends to fail in a small number of ways: the pile stiffens, mats, or fades, and storage leaves creases that do not fall out. These guides follow that order — how to clean faux fur without ruining the coat, how to judge whether a piece actually holds value, and how to display and store one for the long term.
One rule covers most of it: do not machine wash. Once faux fur mats in a drum, brushing will not fully bring it back, and weighted pieces clump when the pellets take on moisture. Spot-clean by hand and brush the pile back into direction while it is still damp.

Keep collectible plush out of direct sun, off sealed plastic, and away from damp. Display on an open shelf with indirect light; store in a breathable cotton bag in a room-temperature cupboard, never a sealed bin in an attic or basement.
